About Lyons Community Theater

In the Summer of 2021, just as the Covid lockdown was ending, three Lyons community neighbors decided to organize a community theater. The mission was, and remains, giving folks in the community who have never acted, but have always wanted to try it, an opportunity to do so. At the same time, new friends would be made and those friendships would be solidified through the process. The first production was a radio play at the Lyons Library, and it was an overwhelming success.
With the support of grants from Lyons Arts and Humanities Commission, Lyons Community Foundation and Cemex, LCT has been able to fulfill the mandate of the Lyons community as evidenced by consistently sold out shows. From the starting point of the first radio show, Lyons Community Theater (LCT) has put two productions a year on stage, with two of those productions being dinner theater Lyons style.
LCT is a non-profit 501(c)(3), all volunteer organization. Our volunteers are the beating heart of this intrepid group of theater lovers.
"As someone who had no previous theater experience, I found a home at LCT through volunteering. After the loss of my husband, it gave me a much needed social outlet as well as lifelong friends. It helped me understand how theater builds community and for that I'm forever grateful."

"I found a lot of satisfaction contributing my time and skills to Lyons Community Theater offstage. I found new friendships and a creative outlet behind the scenes. In a world where our time is so often given in exchange for money, it was refreshing to give my time in exchange for community."
